In 1994, Meissen porcelain painter Detlef Ritter traveled to Africa for the first time. Inspired by the rich colors of Africa, the artist began work in 2019 on his limited-edition mural series "Animals from Africa", a completely new decoration in the history of the Meissen manufactory. After the paintings "Wild Elephants" and "Lion", the artist now continues the series with ""Leopardess on the Water"". With his expressive, detailed depiction Ritter sets in his murals the "Big Five", the wild animals of Africa, a pictorial monument.
Of course, the individual porcelain plates are hand-painted, which is also a corresponding challenge on this material. This makes each of these works of art a unique painting. Hence also the limited edition of 15 copies.
