The figure "Bulldog" belongs to one of the most beautiful dog models by Erich Hösel, who was the design director of the manufactory from 1912 to 1929. He possessed a great enthusiasm for realistic, conventionally held animal sculptures, both naturalistically hand-painted and made of natural porcelain. The animal models of the academically trained sculptor are characterized, like this dog, by an unobtrusive traditional style of design, in which the lively overall appearance is created by devotion and love for the craft. The figure "Bulldog" is dedicated to the powerful, proud dog. Lovingly hand-painted, it appears almost alive, thanks to Hösel's excellent craftsmanship.
