Limited Masterworks Wall Plate Lady with Pelican

In 1912, MEISSEN^® commissioned the artist Willi Münch-Khe (1885-1961). During this time, the graduate of the Karlsruhe Academy of Arts created his artwork "Wall Plate Woman with Pelican", limited edition and hand-painted - a wall decoration in Art Nouveau style. The lively, light painting style of the artwork, which is also evident in his early decorations for the Majolika manufactory in Karlsruhe, is typical of the student of Ludwig Schmid-Reutte and Hans Thoma. The wall decoration is hand-painted with floral motifs and ornaments; woman and bird in flowing lines symbolize the beauty and uniqueness of nature. With a pinch of irony, Münch-Khe's wall decoration distances itself from the mystification that was often kitschy at the time: woman and pelican look deeply into each other's eyes. As if in an embrace, the bird with the green crown flaps its wings around the naked woman, protectively or possessively?
