DESCRIPTION & Details
description
For lovers of arts and crafts and collectible figures, the "Monkey Chapel" by Johann Joachim Kaendler is an unparalleled highlight. With this series of a total of 21 hand-painted collectible figures, he held up an ironic and humorous mirror to courtly society in 1753. His figures, an orchestra of music-making monkeys dressed in human clothes, were entirely in keeping with the taste of the time, and are still an endearing decoration today. Elaborated in detail by modeler Silke Ebermann, lovingly sculpted and hand-painted, the "Monkey with Zither" is an artful recreation entirely in the style of the great Kaendler, on the occasion of MEISSEN's 310th anniversary of arts and crafts. A beautiful figurine, as a single piece or in an ensemble.
