description
This extraordinary vase by Arlene Shechet is far more than just a vessel - it is a sculptural art object that rethinks movement, materiality and form. Made from the finest Meissen porcelain, the 82-centimeter-high vase rises up in the room with a powerful presence. Its organically grown silhouette appears irregular, almost in motion - as if it were in the process of being created or in the process of changing.
The surface is predominantly white, interspersed with flowing shades of blue that run across the porcelain like rivulets of water. The color is not decorative, but has a gestural and spatial effect - it emphasizes the three-dimensionality of the form, enhances light and shadow and gives the vase an almost painterly depth.
Inspired by the idea of "everything flows", Shechet gets to the heart of her artistic thinking in this unique piece: form and color enter into an open dialogue, the porcelain is not understood as a rigid material, but as a medium for change, rhythm and process. The apparent irregularity is deliberately composed - an invitation to question conventions of beauty, function and perfection.
This unique piece combines the over 300-year-old craftsmanship of the Meissen porcelain manufactory with the experimental, intuitive design language of one of today's most important artists. An object of extraordinary presence - sensual, powerful, in constant motion.
