Born in Stralsund in 1938, the artist Baerbel Thoelke is known for her porcelain vessels oriented towards classical modernism. From 1958 to 1963 she studied ceramics and vessel design at the College of Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin-Weißensee, after which she worked as a mold designer in the fine ceramics industry until 1968. She has worked regularly with the manufactory since 2000 on unique pieces and objects, transferring her particular formal language to the finest Meissen porcelain. In her vessels, she combines free artistic as well as design-like shaping designed for repeatability
