For her new edition of this venerable Meissen pattern, our porcelain painter Anett Gerner has come up with a new-age interpretation of legacy "indianisch" painting in the form of an unusual combination of various rather loud shades of red accentuated by patches of black. Five phoenixes are set against a gleaming ground that passes from an incredibly intense orange at the dish¿s rim into a radiant shade of yellow in the middle. Auguring as well as could any rising sun and seemingly flying towards it, the "born-again" birds prepare to negotiate their way through a dense panoply of flowers.
