description
This elaborate dinner plate, hand-painted with Indian flower branches and scattered flowers, is the perfect example of time-honored Meissen craftsmanship. It is part of the famous "Swan Service", one of the most magnificent dinner services from the Meissen manufactory, an impressive testimony to the Baroque period that took around five years to complete. Not all tableware is the same: this dinner plate carries a piece of history within it and, not least because it is naturally hand-painted, is itself a sculptural work of art. As part of the famous dinner service, this plate is also adorned with the eponymous swan couple, which designer Joachim Kaendler took from drawings and copperplate engravings from Dresden.
