description
Helena Sekot (*1996) was born in Weinheim. She studied at the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences and is currently completing her master's degree in sculptural conception / ceramics at the University of Art and Design Linz in Austria. In her work, she combines the materials ceramics and glass as well as the media of photography, video and sound.
In her work "Die Permanenz liegt im Wandel" (Permanence lies in change), she arranged porcelain segments on black glass panels to create images. Helena Sekot adapted typical Meissen shapes for her pictures and invites the viewer to enter into a dialog. Similar to the Rohrschach test by Swiss psychoanalyst Hermann Rohrschach, they leave room for associations. She created the segments from Meissen vessel shapes, which she cut up and reshaped. The pictures refer to the playful baroque opulence of Meissen design and are at the same time bony, even morbid. A change that is essential for a new beginning in nature.
