The 12.5 cm high Miniature Hentschel Child "Child with Cup" impresses with hand-painted details such as the forget-me-not flowers on the dress as well as the Crossed Swords, the iconic signet of Europe's oldest porcelain manufactory, on the child's cup. Individually and vividly portrayed, the depictions of children in the "Miniature Hentschel Children" collection show scenes from everyday life. Boys or girls in simple clothing, absorbed in childlike play with a doll, a dog, a stick or with each other, mark a turning point in Meissen small-scale sculpture at the beginning of the 20th century. The expression, style and subject of the figurines were a novelty at that time.
